William E. Bodie, 88, of Indian Gap passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008 in Hamilton, Texas. He was born September 21, 1919, in Newberry South Carolina, the son of Josiah W. Bodie and Mary Bright Bodie. William served with the United States Army during World War II and later worked for the railroad as a foreman of engines. On September 24, 1939, William Everette Bodie and Ida Ruth Jordan were married in Columbia, South Carolina. Ida preceded him in death on March 30, 2008.

He is survived by one son, William F. (Billy) Bodie and his wife, Martha, of Lugoff, SC; one daughter, Ginny Ruth Coker and her husband, John Lee, of Indian Gap, TX; grandchildren: Dennis Coker and his wife, Carla; Todd Coker, Carlos Coker and his wife, Melinda; Leslie Coker and his wife, Davina; Jay Coker and his wife, Sarah; William Keith Bodie and his wife, Michelle; Carey Rabon and her husband, Alvin; and Kimberly Ruth Parker and husband, Lee; great-grandchildren: Adam Coker, Jennifer Lynn and Levi Coker, Suzanna Coker, Landon and Lillian Coker, Sydney and Garrett Coker, Cody and Amanda Bodie, Jordan Rabon, and Tyler and Holly Parker; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery in Mills County.

Family requests that memorials be made to the donors' favorite choice.
