JoAnn Randolph Gibson, 79, of Wichita Falls, completed her journey from this world to her Heavenly home on July 28, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed away peacefully in Abilene at the home of her son, Robert Layne Gibson.
JoAnn was born January 2, 1929, in Cherokee, Texas, to Charles and Martha Randolph. She married George F. Gibson, Jr., on February 12, 1951. An Air Force wife, JoAnn traveled throughout the U. S. and Europe. She made every assignment a wonderful home for her family. She worked many years at Hubbs Animal Hospital in Wichita Falls. She retired in 1985. She was very active with the Burkburnett Band Parents Club. She enjoyed her pets and her yard work. A humble woman, she spent her retirement years caring for others.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, George Charles Gibson.Survivors include her son, Robert Gibson of Abilene; daughter, Vikki Towles and granddaughter, Erin Towles, both of Wichita Falls; daughter, Marta Muslin and husband, Greg, of Boerne; granddaughter, Amy Helenschmidt of Boerne; and grandson, Adam Helenschmidt of Wichita Falls.
JoAnn’s family and friends were blessed by her presence and she will be dearly missed. The family is especially grateful to Hendrick Hospice and Visiting Angels of Abilene.
The graveside service was conducted at Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Burkburnett Cemetery with Mark Hendry, minister of the Avenue C Church of Christ, officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local hospice organization.“Lord, for your faithful people is changed, not ended.”
