San Saba’s 8th grade boys played in the Comanche Jr. High Tournament on Jan. 21. In the first game of the tournament we faced 3A Brownwood’s A team. Even though we were out sized and out manned, the 8th grade Dillos took it down to the wire and went into overtime with Brown-wood’s A team but came up just short losing 33-35. Scoring for the 8th Dillos was John Welch with 15 points, Holt Oliver with 6 points, John Faught and Logan Guidroz with 4 points each, and Carter Eden and Yason Aguirre with 2 points each.In the second game of the day, the 8th grade Dillos faced another 3A school, Glen Rose. This would be another one that came down to the wire. But this time the Dillos would be on top and won the contest 36-34. Scoring for the Dillos was Logan Guidroz and John Welch with 8 points each, John Faught and Yason Aguirre with 7 points each, and Holt Oliver with 6 points. In our third game of the day, the Dillos would face district opponent Hamilton for the consolation game. The 8th grade Dillos had faced Hamilton the previous Monday and lost to them 29-37. But the tables would turn this time with the Dillos prevailing 29-26. Scoring for this game would be John Welch and Logan Guidroz with 7 points each, John Faught with 6 points, Yason Aguirre with 5 points, and Holt Oliver and Emiliano Rocha with 2 points each.
