The girls participated in a private camp July 19th-23rd at the Civic Center, where they learned 7 dances that they will be performing at halftime of the Varsity football games. Several awards were given at camp this year. The instructors chose one girl, for each dance, that they felt showed enthusiasm, attentiveness, and great learning skills. They were: Joely Haverland for hiphop, Katie Ross for elite pom, Heather Wilcox for military, Paige Faught for kick, Audrey Pierce for field jazz, Kayla Kutin for chair, and Mckenzie Hibler for field pom.

The following awards were also presented by the instructors: Outstanding Kicks-Johna Reavis, Outstanding Line Member-Katie Ross, Super Smiley Sharp-Alexa Maxcey, Value-Jenna Sloan, Kindness-Heather Wilcox, and Outstanding Rookie-Joely Haverland. All 12 girls made the Elite Team, which entitles them to participate in any or all of three trips to San Antonio for a Sea World performance, to New York for a Broadway dance class, and a perfomance onboard a cruise to Cozumel. The instructors stated this was the first time for them to award an entire dance team as elite performers.

These girls spend hours practicing, stretching, learning and perfecting routines daily throughout the football season. It takes hard work and dedication to present those memorable halftime performances that have been a tradition to San Saba High School for over 50 years. The girls would like to thank the community for their support in their annual calendar sales as well as the drill team booster club fundraiser raffle. They would like to congratulate Stella Huron as the winner of the flat screen television that was raffled at the Coleman scrimmage. The proceeds of the raffle go toward senior scholarships. The Dilloettes will be having their Little Dilloette Camp for grades K-6th on Saturday, September 18th from 9:00-12:00. That same day they will have a Dilloette Clinic for grades 7th and 8th from 2:00-4:00. The cost for both is $35.00. The clinic will be conducted like a real drill team practice. The girls will learn what it is like to be on the drill team. We hope to introduce, to this age girls, the traditions of the drill team, and what to expect if they were to become a member of the Dilloettes. The proceeds of the camp also go toward senior scholarships. Both groups will learn a dance that they will perform at a date to be announced. Come out and support the San Saba Armadillos, as we begin a new school year of sports and activities. Go Dillos!!
