25 Years Ago - February 7, 1985
During foreclosure proceedings conducted on the he steps of the San Saba County Courthouse Tuesday, February 5, San Saba National Bank became the new owner of San Saba Memorial Hospital. The medical facility, known as Hill Top Mediplex Inc. is now San Saba Hospital, Inc. and will be under the direction of Leslie H. Turbiville who has signed a contract with San Saba Hospital, Inc. to serve as Administrator.
The Lower Colorado River Authority District office in San Saba will hold an Open House throughout the day Friday, February 8, in celebration of the organization's 50th anniversary. Other LCRA plants and district offices have also scheduled observances that day.
Due to illness the San Saba Sesquicentennial Committee meetings have been postponed until a later date. A new time will be posted on the courthouse marquee and published in the next edition of the news.
At the Corral Drive-In Eddie Murphy is a Detroit cop on vacation in "Beverly Hills Cop".

Mabel Ann Perry, 1964 State Pecan Queen represented San Saba County Jaycees in the State Junior Miss pageant held January 28-30 in New Braunfels.
Cable Vision, Ltd. filed an application recently with the FCC for a microwave permit which will enable viewers to receive more reliable pictures.
Six student vocational nurses received their caps in ceremonies Thursday night. They are Mrs. Nadine Bates, Mrs. Mary Davis, Mrs. Peggy Higginbotham, Mrs. Frances Robbins, Mrs. Gladys Hibler and Mrs. Janie Smock.
San Saba Pee Wee boxers brought home 4 trophies from the Cisco Tournament. Winners of the trophies were Gary Sanderson, Ernie Clark, G.C. Cummings and Billy Smith.

San Saba County is one of the best and most diversified counties in the state, State Livestock Inspector Dean, who was here this week on official business, declared in a local restaurant in a conversation.
A.J. Traut and Carl Baskin this week announce the establishment of their new firm in San Saba dealing in butane gas and all gas appliances used in the home. The new firm name will be Trout-Baskin Butane Gas Co.

Arthur Pratt, assistant county agent of Eastland county, was appointed by the Commissioners' Court to take the place of County Agent C.E. Tisdale, who will leave next Tuesday, March 11, for the years's selective service. Mr. Pratt was appointed to serve only during the absence of Mr. Tisdale.
