TAKS testing begins in earnest this week. On Wednesday, March 3, students in grades 4 and 7 will have writing TAKS. Also on March 3, grade 9 students will have Reading TAKS, and students in grades 10 and 11 will have ELA TAKS testing. On Thursday, March 4, the Exit Level Math Retest is administered. On Friday, March 5, the Exit Level Science Retest is administered. Parents should encourage their students to get a good night’s sleep on the night before the test and to eat a hearty breakfast on the day of testing.
Richland Springs again hosted a One Act Play clinic critiqued by Royal Brantley. Eight schools attended the OAP clinic in hopes that their students will learn from the positive criticism and win state with their respective plays. Thanks to all who donated monies and/or food for the hospitality room, or just their time and talent.
The Richland Springs Coyotes finished the season at 20-2. The Coyotes met a tough Tilden team at the area playoffs. Tilden had two posts who were 6’4’ and 6’5’and they dominated the rebounds. Thanks to Coach Shawn Rogers and the varsity boys for a memorable and exciting basketball season.
The District 29-A , Division 2 All-District basketball teams were announced today. Haustin Burkhart was District MVP; Tra Williams was Newcomer of the Year; Stephen Fowler and Brennen McGinty are 1st team; Randy Couch is 2nd team. Lady Coyotes selected are: Desirae Bessent and Cheyenne Tharp as 1st team; Marsha McMillan was selected as 2nd team. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
February 22nd – February 26th was Texas Severe Weather Awareness Week. Severe weather may strike with only a few minutes of advance warning. Richland Springs School participated in the National Weather Service’s tornado warning drill for schools on February 25. Emergency preparedness for tornadoes is part of our district’s Emergency Operations Plan. Your child’s safety is our #1 concern.
Cheerleader tryouts will be held March 12. March 12 is the Friday before Spring Break. Spring Break will be March 15 - March 19.
Attendance is important! Encourage your child to be at school everyday. The elementary students in Accelerated Reading (AR) were recently rewarded with an ice cream party for meeting their goals. READERS ARE LEADERS!
We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
