Johnny Peters of Priddy, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas at the age of 77.
Johnny was born on November 13, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to Lyle Peters and Johnie Camera Berry Peters. He moved to the Priddy Community in 1955. On June 9, 1956 he married Mildred Rubelie Hohertz in Priddy, Texas, they had one daughter and two sons. Johnny was a member of the United States Army serving in the 62nd MP HWY Patrol Company. He then worked at the Service Feed Store and Mill. He was a Lutheran and also a member of the Sons of Herman and the Priddy American Legion.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Mildred Peters of Priddy; a daughter, Ellen Embry of Priddy; two sons, Stuart Peters and his wife Vicky of Priddy; and Wesley Peters and his wife Dena of Mullin, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Clayton Peters and wife Elizabeth; Terrye Jo Embry, Tahanee Embry, Weston Embry, Miranda Peters and fiance Koltin Hicks; Walker Peters, Gatlin Peters, and Guthrie Peters; three great grandchildren, Michaela Holder, Zackery Ward, and Zoey Ward. Also surviving are his sister in laws and brother in laws, Wanda and Emory Muehlbrad of Austin, Texas; Jean Hohertz of Priddy, Texas; and Al Dacus of Duncanville, Texas; as well as a cousin and family, Mary Ann and Joe Evans.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Edna Peters; his mother, Johnie Peters; his aunts, Lanera Sapp and husband Hershel; Rowena Hicks and husband Prentice; his mother and father in law, Ewald and Freida Hohertz; his brother in law, Walton Hohertz; sister in law, Edeline Dacus and cousin, Danny Sapp.
Visitation was on Thursday, February 25, 2010. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy, Texas. Johnny Priddy delivered the Eulogy. Interment followed at Zion Cemetery in Priddy, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Mark Muelhbrad, Dean Cagle, Roy Seider, Jason Partin, Chad Perkins, Dustin Rea, Lee Wayne Tiemann, and Johnny Ray Wallace.
