Kerrville Performing Arts Society’s next live event, "American Big Band", will bring to life the Big Band Era in America. In this new theatrically-staged, costumed and choreographed production by award winning producer Matt Davenport, 20 singers, dancers and musicians bring the Big Band story to life featuring the greatest highlights of the last 80 years of Big Band music in America. The sounds of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and many more are sure to get you ‘In the Mood’ with the very best of the American Big Band.

The show is set as a radio program and from different locations throughout the USA (The Savoy, The Palomar Ballroom in Hollywood, Billy Rose’s Music Hall in NYC, Cotton Club), they "broadcast" to the audience the highlights from an era where big bands ruled the entertainment market. The show mixes vocal combinations with the big band sounds to the likes of Woody Herman, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey and Artie Shaw.

According to Lou Wasserman, of Merrick, Long Island, The band, the soloists, the singers, and the dancers were all absolutely fantastic and very professional in every way. The costuming and the props were unbelievable. I do not hesitate to say that it was one of our best concerts in our 50 years of existence. The audience loved every minute!!

The two performances, along with a student outreach program for over 800 students, are made possible through the generosity and support of James Avery, Busty & Amy Underwood, Arthur Bell, and The Hill Country Center for Cancer Care: Drs. Valerian Chyle, Jr., and David C. Jones.

Tickets for The American Big Band Show are available at the Cailloux Theater Box Office (910 Main Street) for the performances on Sunday, February 21st at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets ($25-$35-$45) may be purchased by telephone (830-896-9393) using VISA/MasterCard. Additional information at www.kpas.org or www.ama.bz/attractions/3-american-big-band.
