The San Saba 8th grade Dillos battled to a 14-14 tie with the Coleman Bluecats in their season finale at Rogan field last Thursday night.
Coleman kicked to San Saba to start the game. Jordan Watson had runs of 5, 7, 11, 4, 4 and 17 yards. Dallas Caldwell gained 4, Watson 3 more. Cosme Diaz ran 4 yards for the first Dillo Score. Kelan Verette ran in the PAT. 8-0 Dillos. Ashton Krueger, Ruben Aguirre, Daniel Calderon, J.T. Hibler, Wesley Gates, Brandon Amstead, Kristian McCoury, Dylan Rosales, Gunner Hibler, Jerry Davila, and Brian Rogers paved the way with good blocking.
San Saba kicked to Coleman. Coleman had several good pass plays. A pass interferance on the 4th down gave Coleman a first down as the quarter ended.
Coleman scored from 10 yard to open the second quarter. Cosme Diaz and Jordan Watson teamed up to stop the PAT pass. 8-6 Dillos. Coleman kicked to the Dillos, San Saba fumbled the football the second play. Kelan Verette had a big play on Defense. Dallas Caldwell recovered a Coleman fumble caused by Cosme Diaz. Watson ran for 7 yards, Kelan Verette got 4 more before the Dillos fumbled the ball back to Coleman.
The Defense stopped Coleman with a Verette interception to end the half 8-6 Dillos.
San Saba kicked to Coleman to start the second half. Brian Rogers recovered a Coleman fumble. The Dillo Offense moved the ball. Watson ran for 10, Verette 12, Watson 2, Verette 1. A pass fell incomplete and the Dillos punted. Jordan Watson played good defense. Cosme Diaz had another fumble recovery. Watson ran for 9, and Daniel Calderon had a 17 yard run. Watson ran for 5 and 7. A pass to Calderon was incomplete on the 4th down. The Dillos gave the ball up.
Kelan Verette, Brian Rogers, Kolton Ellis, Dallas Caldwell, Ashton Krueger, J.T. Hibler, Ismael Ramirez, and Kristian McCoury played good Defense. Coleman was forced to punt.Watson had runs of 5 and 35 yards before the end of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter Kelan Verette added 10 yards. Watson 2, then 4 for a touchdown. The PAT failed. 14-6 Dillos. San Saba kicked to Coleman. Kelan Verette had a good tackle. Cosme Diaz played good defense.
T.J. Hibler played well. Kolton Ellis came up with a pass interception. The Dillos fumbled it away the next play. Coleman fumbled it right back and Kolton Ellis got on the ball. San Saba could not move the ball due to penalties and punted.
The defense held on solid play by Daniel Calderon and Jordan Watson. Coleman scored on a pass on the 4th down. The PAT was good. 14-14. Coleman kicked to San Saba. The Dillos tried to pass but time ran out before they could score. It was a hard fought contest. The young Dillos came a long way this year.
