The San Saba Middle School Armadillo’s experienced one of the busiest times of the year last week! Monday started off rainy, but it didn’t slow down the activities that were planned for the week. The cross-country teams had to wait until Tuesday to run, but it was all worth it. Both 7th grade middle school teams performed well! The 7th grade girls placed 2nd as a team and the boys placed 3rd! One of the most amazing things was that the 7th grade team traveled from the Bob Bullock museum to participate in the meet.

The cross-country meet was originally scheduled for Monday, but when the rain flooded the course the event was changed to Tuesday. There was a 7th grade field trip planned for the same Tuesday, so we loaded the class up on two different buses and headed to Austin early Tuesday morning. The 7th grade class was able to spend a few hours observing and completing class assignments about different artifacts in the museum. After lunch, the cross-country team loaded a bus while the rest of the 7th graders went to watch the IMAX movie “Where the Wild Things Are.” San Saba Middle School is very appreciative of the donor that made the Bob Bullock field trip possible and our awesome students for representing San Saba at the museum and the cross-country meet!!

Our 5th graders participated in Farm Day on Wednesday. They were very excited about the different things they learned. We want to thank the Progressive Agriculture group and all of their sponsors.

Our middle school football teams, cheerleaders, and twirlers traveled to Comanche on Thursday to battle the cold and wind! Our 7th grade boys returned home victorious. The 8th grade armadillos never gave up, but the Comanche 8th grade team was too much to handle in the windy conditions.

I was able to experience my first costume parade on Friday, October 30th for 5th and 6th graders. Wow! I understand all the hoop-la now. I was thrilled to see how many students dressed up and participated in this event. It was a major undertaking for Mrs. Bell and she should receive many accolades for her hard work. Dora Miller and Jeff Pannell judged the costume contest and I definitely feel sorry for the judges! There were some great costumes! The businesses were very generous, and I feel that the entire community was excited to see the students. THANK YOU! Next year we will start early making this an incentive for students because they definitely love it!!

Thank you to the many middle school students that traveled to Comanche to watch the San Saba Varsity Armadillos win a playoff berth. Many of the middle school students will be able to share in a little bit of San Saba Football History. It was the most exciting high school football game I have ever seen! Awesome job—one for the ages!
