I took my wife out to eat the other day. The waitress brought us a menu and we began to look for what we wanted to eat. The first thing I look at is the item itself and it’s description. Then, because we are on a budget, I look at the price. Most things I like are in the category I can afford. Some of them are not. The good thing is I have choices.

All of us have choices we make. Some of them are more important than others. For instance, it is important who we choose to marry. If I marry the wrong person my life could be miserable (fortunately I made a good choice). There are homes where mates are constantly arguing and fighting. If you have one of these I encourage you to seek outside help from someone qualified to help you.

Another instance is the kind of job one has. Will it be blue or white collar? Will it be one that I can practice my faith? This is very important.

Other choices may be what clothes to wear today or which shoes. What will I eat today? How will I spend my time?

God has given us the opportunity to make choices. This started with the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden (Gen.3). They had a choice to eat or not to eat fruit God had forbidden them. We know the result of that choice. God created man to love Him and serve Him. Man chose not to do that but to listen to Satan. Therefore He had already chosen to send Jesus, His Son, into the world to save mankind. It is our choice to follow Him or not. Some have made that choice and continue living it today. Others have made a choice too. Their choice is not to obey Him. Therefore, they have chosen to follow Satan. If we do not choose Christ we choose Satan.

There are some who choose Christ but do not remain faithful to Him. Demas is spoken of as a companion of Paul in Col. 4:14. Then in 2 Tim. 4:10 it states “Demas having loved this present world, has departed from me and gone to Thessalonica.” We are to be faithful until death, Rev. 2:10.
