Bertha Allen, 89, of Santa Anna,Texas passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at 4:55 am at her residence in Santa Anna.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Henderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Hess officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Richland Springs Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family received friends Tuesday from 6 till 7 pm at the Henderson Funeral Home.

Bertha was born December 27, 1919 in Lampasas County, Texas to the late John William and Alice Lee Faught Cook. She was raised in Lampasas and San Saba Counties where she attended the Nix Schools. Bertha married Eugene Allen on November 6, 1940 in Lampasas and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Eugene preceded her in death in 1997. Bertha was a resident of Santa Anna since 1957 and was a member of the Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara & her husband, Clarence Jones of Ft Stockton, Texas; her son, Arlen & his wife, Quincy Allen of Temple, Texas. Four brothers, William Cook of Houston, Texas; Leslie Cook of Chula Vista, California; Floyd Cook of Sanger, Texas; Harvey Cook of San Benito, California; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by one son , Travis Allen in 1978 and one grandson, Allen Jones in 2004; a sister, Gladys Ratliff and two brothers, Alvin Cook & Elton Faught.
