We registered 1.6 inches of rain Tuesday of last week. We are “ in the green” around here.

The gospel singing was very well attended and we had three good piano players who enjoyed trying out the new piano. Doing the honors for us were, Kay McKee, Arlene Stratton and Lanell Parson. Those girls can make a piano dance a jig! We were privileged to have Laurel and Melia Edmondson bring several piano and violin renditions. The girls have taken lessons for several years and are showing some real talent. We were especially glad to have the Cecil Campbell's join us. I never tire of their beautiful voices. We will have another one in April. There has been some expressing the wish to have it more than twice a year. We will have to talk about it at the community meetings.

There were seven members at the Busy Bee quilting last Tuesday. They were Gloria and Fay Lusty, Carol Orr, Billie McKinnerney, Marilyn Miller, Grace Hardman and Irene Hammett. Marilyn Suber and I visited. The club will have a Thanksgiving dinner next month. Gloria Lusty will provide the chicken and dressing and the rest of us will bring side dishes.

Larry and Yvonne Cottrell had their daughter, Angie, and her two daughters, visiting last weekend. I know they enjoyed the grandkids.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Marie Beasley of San Saba. Marie was the daughter of Marion and Una V Crawford. Funeral services were held for her Saturday afternoon at Holt Baptist Church with burial at the Holt cemetery. We send our sympathy to the family.

Marilyn and Michael Suber and I picked up Amy Tucker in Brady Monday on our way to San Angelo for my six month check-up with Dr. Rahman. After seeing the Dr. and doing some shopping, we were joined by Stacie, Santos and Nonie Elizondo for lunch at Logans restaurant. It was Marilyn and Michael’s 24 anniversary, so we were celebrating.

We ran into Johnnie Dempsey at the clinic and she said that she and J.C. are both doing fine and wanted to tell everyone “hello.”

The Coyotes traveled to Robert Lee last Friday night and came home early after winning by a score of 62-8. The Rochelle Hornets will come to town this Friday night. They are undefeated so far this year and you know they are coming with “blood in their eyes!” We sure do not want them to slip up on us. If it is too cold for me to get out, I’ll have my ear to the radio, like I did last week. We sure do appreciate Jason Lewis bringing us the action over the air.
