The formal opening of Annabelle's Early American Furniture Store has been set for Friday, Oct. 23, announced Mrs. Ted Brown Jr., owner. The store is located at 311 E. Wallace Street, San Saba, Texas.
Ted Hall, Bernie Hart and Mason Ellis returned Tuesday night from a successful hunting trip to Colorado.
An "early bird breakfast" at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Hotel San Saba for volunteer workers will kick-off the annual Boy Scout Finance Campaign announced Harry Shapiro, San Saba fund drive chairman. Scouts need your financial support. "Give 'til you are proud", is the slogan for the campaign. Give a Texan's Share!
Carrol Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hill, and County Agent Billy F. Kidd left after school Wednesday, Oct. 21, for the State Fair at Dallas where Hill's Hereford-Angus crossbred calf will be judged Thursday, Oct. 22.

Up at the Everett Gulf Service Station, out Wallace Street, they have now on display a new automobile tire made out of soap, oil and Ameripol, without a trace of rubber in it, which promises to free America from its anxiety in making tires of the rubber supply from the East Indies is cut off by Herr Hitler, Japan or Italy.
Last Thursday the oil drilling rig, engaged inputting down a test well in the Cat Claw community, had reached the 1200 ft. level on a night and day shift. The drillers, we are informed, expected to obtain a good oil showing at 1390 ft. and hoped to reach that stage by last Saturday.
The San Saba Thanksgiving turkey market is expected to open Nov. 1, according to local produce dealers, but at this time the opening price is not known.
The public is invited to play, enjoy, take part or what have you in the Halloween celebration next Thursday night in Spookville which will really be the roped off section of Wallace Street down town.

October 21, 1909
The San Saba ISD Board opened bids for the construction of the new school building last Thursday and awarded the contract to R.G. Coryell, bidding for the San Saba Lumber Co.
Lightning struck a tree in Leigh Burleson's yard during the hard rain Monday evening. The tree was badly demolished and Mr. Burleson, who was in the yard with an armful of stove wood at the time, was considerably shocked, being knocked to his knees.
Bernard Hart, Richard Miller, Worth and Harry Doran, Miller Estep and Fred Peisker composed a hunting party which spent Saturday to Monday near Hugh Miller's ranch on the Colorado River.
The rain which fell over San Saba county all day Monday and night was the best all round rain which has fallen here for many, many days. At times during the day the electric disturbances were fierce.
