The Texas Department of Agriculture is on a mission. We want to let everyone know agriculture has no boundaries. Even if you don’t live on a farm or ranch, Agriculture is your Culture!
When asked, “What is agriculture?” the response may likely include the words cows, plows and sows. While agriculture is all of those things, it encompasses so much more. Visiting TDA’s new Agriculture is Your Culture Web site will help you discover the diversity of agriculture.
For example, did you know agriculture is connected to the jeans and dresses in your closet? Did you know cosmetics, shampoo, aspirin and fuel are created from the products of agriculture? Just about everything we use, from toothpaste and medications to pet food and plastics can be traced back to agriculture.
The Agriculture is Your Culture Web site also offers information on buying local, finding a Texas winery or a new GO TEXAN recipe.
Many who visit the site are sharing their own personal accounts of how agriculture is part of their culture, and I encourage you to do the same by visiting the Agriculture is Your Culture website at www.TexasAgriculture.gov/culture and clicking on Submit Your Story.
