For the second straight week, the Indians have lost a ball game they were capable of winning though they were not picked by anyone in the sports world to win.
This Indian team faced a Lometa team which had many more players as well as bigger size and more speed than the Indians. The Indians needed to play at the top of their game to beat the Hornets. The Indian defense held the Hornets scoreless through the 1st quarter. With 1:28 remaining in the quarter, the Indians lost a fumble. Lometa would turn this into the first score of the game just 8 seconds into the 2ndquarter. The Hornets scored again with 3:30 remaining in the half to take a 0-16 lead. On their ensuing possession, the Indians drove the ball down the field. Taking advantage of 2 good runs by Tucker Corsi and Jesse Perez, the Indians scored on a 1 yard run by Perez with 1:02 remaining in the half. Corsi kicked the PAT to cut the Hornet’s lead to 8-16. The Hornets came right back and scored on a 17 yard pass play with 0:12 left on the clock. Lometa took an 8-22 lead into halftime.
The Indians came out on defense in the 3rd quarter. They put up a huge goal line stand on the opening drive, holding the Hornets on downs at the 1 yard line. Unfortunately, the Indians ended up getting a safety. With 0:03 ticks on the clock, a fumble recovery by Duncan Roberts gave the Indians another chance but they fumbled it away on the next play.
The Hornets only touchdown of the 4th quarter came on a 20 yard run just over 2 minutes into the quarter.
They kicked their PAT and held an 8-32 lead. With 0:19 remaining, Corsi scored on a 19 yard run for the Indians. Corsi kicked the PAT to cut the Hornet lead in half. The Indians could never get away from bad luck. A good run from scrimmage would be called back on a penalty, fumbled snaps, and questionable calls or no-calls by the officials compounded an already tough task of handling the Hornets. Considering the size and speed of the Hornet offense, the Indian defense did a good job of holding them to 32 points. When the offense clears up their miscues, the Indians will be a team to reckon with.
