It happens every year about this time. It is when the Monarch butterflies make their journey to their winter home. They are one of the larger butterflies and the ones that live east of the Rockies go to the State of Michoacán in southern Mexico.

We first notice one or two and then more and before long there are many on the flowers around the house. They have beautiful dark golden wings with a black ring around the edges and in those black rings are little white dots. They seem to be having a good time and are in no hurry and they go from one flower to another fluttering about. Then one day we look up and they are gone.

Those butterflies remind me of something in the Bible. Our days on earth are numbered, (Genesis 3:19, Ecclesiastes 12:7). We are on a journey. This is not our permanent home, we are on our way to heaven, (Philippians 3:20&21, 1 Peter 1:3-5). Sadly to say not everyone is going to make the trip or go to heaven because they do not know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, (Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:18-21, Revelation 16:11).

Let us enjoy the journey and look forward to where we are going to spend eternity and more than that, the one who will be there. Jesus Christ in person, (Revelation 22:3-7). See you in Church next Sunday.
