Plans are underway by the Bend UMC to host the 151st camp meeting at the Methodist Camp Grounds on Cherokee Creek at Chapel. Dates for the meeting are August 13-16 with evening services at 7 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday. Refreshments will follow each evening service. Sunday morning there will be Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship at 11:00. Dinner on the grounds will follow.

Evangelist for this year's camp meeting will be Terry Hall, of Terry G. Gall Music Ministry out of Sevierville, Tennessee. He will also be providing special music.

Terry is no stranger to this part of the country, having visited this area many times. His specialty is the old Southern Gospel sound which incorporates spirituals, the country sound, and even some fun time songs for the young and young at heart.

His message is based on the belief that the lost and dying are not always in the churches, but there is a need to minister everywhere in the world. Terry and his wife Janice travel nationwide to bring his music and message to churches and other venues.

The camp meeting has been held every year since 1858. Members of the congregation encourage everyone to come and be a part of this historic event. Reverend Celia Kitchens is pastor of Bend UMC. She can be contacted for information at 325-628-3395 or 512-752-3661.
