Dolly Norene Gage Letbetter, a native of San Saba, Texas, was born on December 11, 1916 and went to meet her Lord July 21, 2009 at the age of 92. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and set a beautiful example for all her family through her godly life. She was married to Clovis Letbetter for 46 years and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She leaves behind four married children who will miss her dearly: Rita Pelham and her husband John of Granbury, Larry Letbetter and his wife Carol of San Saba, Steve Letbetter and his wife Paula of Houston and Phil Letbetter and his wife Janice of Huntsville.
“Granny” loved her twelve grandchildren with all her heart and they include Craig Pelham and his wife Cheryl, Keith Pelham, Kevin Pelham and his wife Kerri, Scott Letbetter and his wife Jane, Leigh Ann Klassen and her husband Rob, Kirk Letbetter, Brian Letbetter and his wife Jill, Jason Letbetter and his wife Monica, Traci Powell and her husband Rodney, Kyle Letbetter and his wife Jana, Lindsey Letbetter, and Jamie Greer and her husband Kirk.
“Granny” was very proud of each of her nineteen great grandchildren: Allison Pelham, Jason Pelham, Cadence Pelham, Caroline Pelham, Campbell Pelham, Scott Letbetter, Jr. and his wife Sharla, Taylor Letbetter, Abbie Klassen, Jacob Klassen, Kyndal Letbetter, Justin Letbetter, Samantha Letbetter, Emily Letbetter, Nicholas Letbetter, McKenzi Powell, Kyleigh Powell, Caton Letbetter, Gage Letbetter and Konnor Greer. “Aunt Norene” also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children.
Her family was always the center of her life and she cared for each and every one of them with unselfish abandon. She supported her children in everything they attempted throughout their lives and rejoiced in each of their accomplishments. She was never too busy to talk to or play with a grandchild, taught most of them how to bait their own hook and fish and made each feel like the “most special one.” She was known by her family and friends as a fun-loving game player and champion of the Scrabble board. She created countless beautiful handmade quilts and needle work pillows and loved to garden. She energetically canned vegetables and fruits and made pickles and was famous within her family for her wonderful cooking and homemade rolls. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in San Saba and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Her life was a true testimony of her deep faith in the living God and she has claimed her reward in the “mansion He prepared for her” and will dwell in Heaven forever.
Serving as pallbearers are her 8 grandsons: Craig Pelham, Keith Pelham, Kevin Pelham, Scott Letbetter, Kirk Letbetter, Brian Letbetter, Jason Letbetter, and Kyle Letbetter.
