James Wayland Mann, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in Justin.

Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 27th in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

Known to many as JW, Wayland, Papaw and Pop, he was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Richland Springs. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. JW married Flora and they had three children. He worked for General Dynamics as an instrumentation mechanic for 20 years. His true passion was farming, ranching and horseback riding. He will be remembered most for his love of music, whistling his favorite tunes, loving his dogs, story telling, his warm smile and as a true cowboy in every sense of the word.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Camille Mann; brothers, Gilbert, Prentice and Raymond Mann; and two grandsons, Troy Mann and Justin Stooksberry.

Survivors: Sisters, Lorena Conner and Panzee Fikes; sister-in-law, Tense Mann; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jim Mouat; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kellye Mann; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Pam Mann; grandchildren, Cheryl Glosup, Brian Foster, Sarah Jessica and Allison Flannigan, Cody and Kendall Mann and Austin Mann; and six great-grandchildren.
