In an effort to streamline bus routes and effectively manage transportation costs, San Saba ISD has redrawn bus routes and reformed ridership pickup locations.

At the June SSISD School Board meeting, the Trustees approved a new route plan that will save the District 25,000 miles and cut three route positions. This cost savings strategies align route patterns and streamlines the routes for better management without jeopardizing student safety. Part of the new route plan will be a requirement that asks parents/guardians to bring and pick up their student/bus riders at main highways.

For example, the route on FM 500 will travel up and down FM 500 but no longer will the bus travel down dirt roads or private lanes to retrieve students. Additionally, the Bend route has been reworked to provide a loop type route. A letter describing the route plan will be mailed to known bus riders and to those who participated in school transportation at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

Additionally, the ISD will extend one route to the western border of the District taking it to Algerita at which time it will make a stop and return to San Saba. The ISD asks parents/guardians to contact the Director of Transportation, Alton Tinney at 325/372-5633 for further clarification and for pick up and drop off times and locations.

Additionally, please call the San Saba ISD Central Office if you have any questions.
