With funding approved by the San Saba Commissioner's Court on July 2, 2009, the San Saba Co. Sheriff's Office was able to purchase five new TASERS. Each device is integrated with digital video cameras, a holster for each officer and training materials in order for them to become certified users.
On Wednesday, July 15, 2009, members of the San Saba Co. Sheriff's Office and San Saba Police Department attended a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education training class enabling law enforcement to properly and safely utilize a technical compliance weapon. TASERS were issued to all patrol deputies with a rigid policy and procedure manual. The new TASER program will benefit our community and our peace officers by helping to provide additional safe and viable options for taking combative persons into custody. With the initiation of this TASER program, the San Saba Co. Sheriff's Office will join over 11,000 other law enforcement agencies around the world that have access to such helpful tools.
