We have two of the most amusing cats living at our house. We have started to let them out for brief periods of time. We dare not let them out alone or they would be gone. They are our daughter, Tiffany’s cats. If they were to get lost or hit by an automobile, she would have a difficult time (as would Cyndi).
While we had the cats out the other night a couple of thoughts struck me. First, a dog was barking and coming at the cats. I see barking dogs and I usually run. They did not run. They just looked at it. Also, the tom cat has learned that if he gets under the car he is safe and will not be taken back inside. Cyndi nor I have any desire to get on the ground and try to drag him out. After a while he decides to come out on his own and we can then pick him up and carry him inside.
Why didn’t the cats run when the dog was coming near? I believe that it was because we were there. The cats knew that as long as we were present we would not let anything happen to them. We were their protectors.
You and I have a Protector, also. Our Protector is God who is in heaven. He is always there. Matthew 28:20 tells us “...and I will be with you always…” What a wonderful promise! And it is true. David said, “But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him.” (Psalm 37:39,40)
When the cat hides, he thinks he is safe, that he can’t be touched. I can blow the horn or start the car, however, and he runs out. We cannot hide from God. Every deed will be brought into light one day (Luke 12:2). We may hide from others, but never from God.
Today have you put your trust in Him who is able to protect you or are you trying to hide your sins from God. You never will. Come clean while you have the opportunity. Commit your ways to God and you will be blessed!
