The fourth is upon us and it looks like it will be hotter than most of the fire works will be.

If you must set off fireworks be very careful as it is dry and the grass will burn like gasoline. You will be much better off to attend a fireworks display that will be held in different places this year.

Give the fire fighters a holiday this fourth and have a safe one.

Not much news at all around the Bend, everyone seems to be keeping at home, on vacation or just staying in trying to stay cool.

Folks were out cutting and bailing their hay this past week and some is to be baled this week. Everyone seems to be having a bumper crop of hay.

There are a few folks off on trips and will have to wait till they get home to give the details. Just hope they are where it is cooler than here. If they are where it is cooler, they could have pity on us here and could send some of the cooler weather and rain to us.

The Monday noon weather report for this area wasn’t too hopeful of any rain here, but they have been known to be wrong before, so keep your fingers crossed. We can always hope we will have some rainfall to report in the next week column.

Malissa Lemons attended the Gage reunion this past weekend in San Saba.

Hugo and Lesa Preece have been in Florida on a vacation. They returned home this week.

The Bend Community meeting went off as scheduled with Barbara Jones and Glenda Scroggins being the hostesses. The members voted to have the inside of the school house painted, which has been long over due. The work should be completed sometime this summer. The next regular meeting will be in September.

A mistake was made in last weeks article and wouldn’t you know it was the wrong birthdate on Phillip and Bobbie Morse’s grandson, Sean Nixon. His birthday was June 22 and not June 29. His birthday was celebrated even tho the date was wrong. Maybe next year it will be listed correctly.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Gladys Brister and Thomas Brister who will celebrate a birthday July 6, to Barbara Bourke and Tommie Tinney who will celebrate their birthday July 8.

Congratulations go out to Jerry and Charlene Reavis who will celebrate their anniversary July 7.
