The first day of summer and Father’s Day is now behind us. The heat is still with us and from the looks of the weather forecast it will be with us for some time.

The news is scarce this week, as lots of folks are either gone on vacation or just recuperating from the Father’s Day weekend.

Congratulations goes out to Dillon Brister who recently graduated from Kindergarten Texas Tech University ISD.

Saturday, June 20 a beautiful wedding took place at the Barefoot Fishing Camp. Elizabeth Adams, the daughter of Dr. Marilyn Brister and Carl Adams of Dublin was united in marriage to Joe Tamez, Jr.; Joan Guest performed the ceremony.

After the ceremony the many guests who had gathered to celebrate the marriage, stayed for the reception provided by Jackie Brister to partake of the brisket, fried fish and sampled some of the fourteen cakes baked by Jackie’s sister, Evelyn Herman who also baked the beautiful bride’s and groom’s cakes.

Elo Henniger enjoyed Father’s Day Sunday with his daughter, Lucille Underwood and friends Waymon and Bob from the Austin area, along with Bill and Jo Price of Bend. After lunch games of dominoes were played. Lucille and Elo were partners playing against Bill and Bob. Elo and Lucille won the first two games and the last game was won by Bill and Bob. It was a pleasant afternoon for everyone.

The cousin from Palestine, Texas traveled the longest distance and the closest came from Gatesville to enjoy the day together. Tommye reported that everyone enjoyed the reunion. Each member brought food and Tommye had prepared food so no one went away hungry. If they did, it was their own fault.
