On March 28th the Brownwood Fair Barn hosted the annual HotBox competition for the 4-H Shooting Sports Teams in the surrounding counties. The HotBox had competitions in light rifle, three position precision rifle, silhouette, air rifle, and air pistol categories.
Entering from the San Saba County 4-H in the light rifle category were Ron Gerhart, Melanie Hedley, and Caelob Hardmann. In light rifle, shooters are required to shoot a target with five bulls-eyes fifty feet away in the standing position. Four rounds are entered into each bulls-eye on the target. Rounds placed in the inner rings score higher, starting from ten and working out to six points. Each shooter’s score is a total of points they earned out of 200. Ron Gerhart entered in senior division light rifle category. Ron scored 177 points out of 200 on his target and was one point away from tying with the third place winner. Melanie Hedley entered in the junior division light rifle category and scored 158 points out of 200 on her target and received the second place prize. Caelob Hardmann scored 75 points out of 200 on his target as a first time competitor which was great.
Congratulations to Ron, Melanie, and Caelob on your accomplishments! Your hard work and determination paid off. We look forward to hearing about your success in the future. Keep up the good work!
