Lelan Varnadore 75 of Coleman, passed away Sunday January 4, 2009 at his residence in Coleman. Lelan was born June 17, 1933 in McCamey, Texas, the son of Cue Howard Varnadore and Kathryn Johnson Varnadore. Lelan Cue Varnadore and Carolyn Lively were married in Carlsbad, New Mexico on December 3, 1956. In May 1954 Lelan joined the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW in Big Lake, Texas, a beloved father, grandfather and husband. He attended the Baptist Church.
Lelan is survived by his wife Carolyn Lively Varnadore of Coleman. Sons, David Ward and his wife Debra K of Mullin; and Michael Lee Varnadore of Coleman. Daughter, Tammy Varnadore White and her husband Done H. of Kingsland. Grandchildren, Kenny Wayne Varnadore; Kasey Layne Varnadore; Alisha Carolyn White; Kim Gray; and Travis Hall. Four great-Grandchildren;cousins, Liz Trotter of San Angelo; Bill Mack Varnadore and his wife Virginia of Midland; and Gary Mack Varnadore of Odessa.
Lelan is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Chappel Cemetery with Rev. George McHorse officiating.
The family requests that memorials be made to the West Texas Rehab Center, or the Chappel Cemetery Association.
Funeral Services were under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
