U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior Senator, today announced the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), through the Economic Development Administration, has awarded the Development District of Central Texas and the Central Texas Council of Governments with a $150,000 grant to establish an economic development planning framework, process, and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region.
“As a former small business owner, I recognize the important role private enterprise plays in the American economy,” said Sen. Hutchison. “This comprehensive economic development program in Central Texas will provide helpful resources and opportunities to diversify the region’s economy.”
According to the DOC, this three-year planning investment supports development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Development District of Central Texas/Central Texas Council of Governments, which comprises Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, Hamilton, Milam, Mills, and San Saba counties.
The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
