The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met December 15, 2008 at the beautiful community room at the San Saba River RV Park for their annual Christmas party with the following members present: Jackie Doner, Sandee Hartley, Hattie Rogers, Bobbie Churchill, Shirley Hardin, Bette Odom, Pat Ribb, JoAnn Snow, Priscilla Muse, JoAnne Hardy, Dorothy Sterner, Becky Hardin, and Anita Miles. JoAnne Hardy had decorated the club room with a beautiful Christmas tree and red table cloths and poinsettias which put everybody in the Christmas spirit.Becky Hardin and Shirley Hardin brought their karoke machine and we had beautiful Christmas music through out the evening.

The President, Anita Miles, welcomed the ladies and had a short program. First the ladies named their many blessings of the past year, with health issues being the most prevalent. Then the president roasted the other members with a skit on what a caddy might possibly be saying to each member about her golf game. The president then called on the club chaplain, Nell McHorse, for the blessing for the meal.

Betty Ann Johnson, who is like an honorary member to all of the ladies, catered the dinner of prime rib with baked potato, green beans, and salad. Strawberry shortcake was served for dessert. It was delicious, as always. We do so appreciate Betty Ann!

We had a surprise visit from our City Manager, Stan Weik. He welcomed the ladies to the new club room and then gave a short talk on his vision for the San Saba River Golf Course, as well as for the City of San Saba. Working together with the citizens he has a long range dream for the further advancement and beautification for San Saba, The Pecan Capital of the World!

The ladies made an impressive donation to the Ministerial Alliance in lieu of gifts. This is an annual tradition.

After dining, the ladies played card games and had fellowship and just plain old Christmas fun! After all these years, there is a bond of friendship in the ladies organization that will live forever! And as long as possible, we will be “swinging!”
