Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The identity of that little baby born in a stable and laid in Bethlehem's manger some two thousand years ago, was made known about 750 years before He was born. You see, Jesus did not have His beginning at Bethlehem. He was sent from heaven, where He had always been, according to Joh 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. v.2. The same was in the beginning with God. v.3. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In our text verse in Isaiah, The Bible calls Him the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and, in the beginning verses of the Bible, in Gen 1:26 we find Him active in creation, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: God the Father, God The Son and God the Holy Spirit were all active in creation. The following verses tell us why He came to this earth: Gal 4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent Forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were Under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. He came from heaven, impregnated himself in a virgins womb, wrapped himself in flesh, and was born that He might die for the sins of the whole world. The greatest of all the miracles is the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. I say that because all the other miracles of His ministry were repeated, including raising people from the dead, but the virgin birth is a one time, unique miracle that occurred only once and will never be repeated. The gospel message is wrapped up in two verses, John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but everlasting life. John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. God gave His Son to us on Christmas morning, and gave Him for us on Calvary's cross. The greatest gift you can ever receive is God's gift of eternal life, and it is through His Son. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you will receive God's gift of His Son, it will last throughout this life and for eternity.

When God offers Jesus, He says, MERRY CHRISTMAS.
