Raymond D. "Corky" Poe

Raymond D. "Corky" Poe, 78, of San Saba passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Eventide Nursing Home in San Saba, Texas. Corky was born June 17, 1930 in Moline, Texas, the son of Elmer Hill Poe and Alice Lucy Arrowood Poe. On August 8, 1958 Corky Poe and Velma Grumbles were married in San Saba, Texas.

Corky is survived by his wife Velma of San Saba; 2 daughters: Kim Wells and her husband Buster of San Saba; Kelli Hubbard and her husband Bill of Zephyr, Texas; son Mike Poe and his wife Tina of Richland Springs, Texas; 2 sisters: Joyce Scogin of Austin, Texas; Laura Bryant and her husband J.T. of Austin, Texas; 2 brothers: Bobby Dale Poe and his wife Doris of Lometa, Texas; Donald Poe and his wife Peggy of Alibene, Texas; grandchildren: John Michael and Christan Poe of Schertz, Texas; Winston Poe of Richland Springs, Texas; step grandchildren: Brad and Hailie Hubbard of Brownwood, Texas; Todd and Anita Hubbard of Dallas, Texas; and Ryan Hubbard of Austin, Texas; step great grandchild: Bentley Hubbard; sister-in-law Sharon Ellis of San Saba, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law Gaylord Scogin.

Corky was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired after 27 years with Foremost Milk and then worked for Sheppard Funeral Homes. He was a Baptist.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star, Texas with Rev. Sam Crosby of First Baptist Church of San Saba officiating. The family received friends Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sheppard Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Funeral Services were under the direction of Sheppard Funeral Home.
