San Saba JV Girls Basketball Report
Thursday, December 18, 2008 • Posted December 18, 2008

The JV girls have had a couple good games the past two weeks improving to 8-3 for the season so far. We played against Florence JV last week and beat them 29-15. The girls came out a little sluggish in the first quarter but overall played well. They hadn’t played since the Tuesday before so they were a little out of the groove on playing. Samantha Henry led the team scoring with 10 points, while Ashley Pulatie followed with 6 points. I was very proud of the girls effort and how hard they played. We have a great group of girls who will step up and play when they need to.

We traveled to Llano on Saturday, December 13th for a couple games in the JV tournament there. The first game we played Llano’s freshman team. The girls did a great job on the defensive end and ended up winning 27-20. Silvia Jimenez hit some big three pointers to start the game off. That got the team going and they fought hard the whole time. Ashley Pulatie led the team in scoring with 12 points, while Silvia Jimenez had 9 points. The post players also did a great job, also the bench did awesome when asked to go in the game.

The second game we played we fell short to Lampasas’ freshman team 22-31. The girls gave a great effort and I was very proud of them despite the loss. I was very proud of all the girls because they never gave up. Samantha Henry led in scoring with 8 points, with Pulatie next having 7, and Taylor Smith having 3.

I am so proud of the JV girls. They have improved so much and have come a long ways and are continuing to learn everyday. I contribute all of our wins to everyone on the team. Everyone helps in a big way. We play two games this week before heading into Christmas break. Hopefully we can pull off two wins against Dublin and Bangs. We play Dublin at home at 4:00, hopefully we won since this will come out after the game, and we play at Bangs Friday at 4:00 p.m. Thanks for everyone’s support and Happy Holidays!!!
