Drew Newlin, 87, of San Saba passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at his home in San Saba. Drew was born January 14, 1921 in Hico, Texas the son of Arthur Newlin and Carrie Swails Newlin. On February 8, 1946 Thomas Andrew Newlin and Mozelle Todd were married in Hico, Texas. Drew served in the United States Army, was a rancher and pecan gather, and attended the First Baptist Church of San Saba.

Drew is survived by his wife, Mozelle Newlin of San Saba; Daughter, Beverly Newlin of San Saba; Grandchildren, Melissa Cavness and her husband Phil; Dedra Parisher and her husband Gary and Great-Grandchildren: Brittany Cavness, Briana Parisher, and Torrie Parisher. One brother, John Newlin of Weir, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.

Drew is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Louise Shumate; Grandson, Cory Shumate and one brother, L.K. Newlin.

Services were held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Rev. George McHorse officiating. Interment followed at the Senterfitt Cemetery.

Honorary Pall Bearers for the service were Phil Cavness, George Tolar, H. Barnett, Gary Parisher, and Kenneth Thomas.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer Association.
