Well the weather outside has been frightful like the song said, not snow just wind, lots of cold wind. Everyone seemed to weather Christmas just fine and are now looking forward to the New Year. Happy New Year to everyone out there!

Some of the Christmas events that went on in downtown Bend was that Hugo, Lesa Preece had a get together at her home Sunday for children that used to attend her day care in Lampasas. Attending church with her was Robi Willis, Jesse Gonzales, Donavan Clarkston and Blake Harding and afterward were joined by Malissa Lemons, Christopher Lemons, Clay Bradley and Megan Blair of Lampasas joined the group for lunch and lots of visiting and talking about the “old days” were enjoyed by all.

On Christmas Eve Malissa Lemons had Hugo, Lesa Preece of the Bend, Brandon and Alisa Preece, Eric Hernandez and Ashley Lowe, Bruce, Moira and Brodie Lemons, Danny, Audrey Lemons, Christopher Lemons from Lampasas over to her home. Christmas day everyone met at Hugo and Lesa’s home except Brodie and Christopher who were not there. From Brownwood Keith and Wanda Lemons and from San Saba Gloria Lemons joined the family for Christmas and to partake of turkey, dressing, ham and all sorts of goodies.

Shirley Meischen reported that she and Jerome traveled to Leander on December 19, to watch their grandson, Blake Gideon, graduate from Leander High School. He will be starting to UT on January 15, 2008 and will play football for the Texas Longhorns. Blake was named defensive MVP and first all state defensive team.

On Christmas Eve all of the Meischen family was at their home, along with two friends, Tony Stephenville and Mallory from A & M. Everyone attended the candle light service at the Bend Methodist church. On Christmas day gifts were opened and a large dinner was served to eleven people who enjoyed the food and fellowship along with four dogs. No names for the dogs was submitted. Just dogs! Not to clear whether the dogs sat at the table or laid under the table, but who cares they were there and that is all that matters.

Everyone else was very quiet about what went on at their homes. Guess they were just too tuckered out to report any news. After they get over Christmas and all the New Year celebrations, news might be forthcoming. We will see!

A belated happy birthday goes out to Clay Bradley, Charlene Reavis, Phillip Morris, Grady Gibson and Jerol Lively who all had a birthday December 28 and on the 29th Brenda Gibson celebrated her birthday, on December 31 Gunner Stinnett and Danny Lemons celebrated a birthday. On January 1, Rufus Cobern will celebrate a birthday, and Billy Bub McCoury, Charlene Brister, Phyllis Brookshird and Tommie Coburn will celebrate their birthday on January 6, on January 7 Annie White will celebrate her birthday.

Congratulations go out to John and Barbara Bourke who will celebrate an anniversary December 30 and to Robert and Spring Price who will celebrate an anniversary January 7.
