Charles Ray Porter

Charles Ray Porter, age 56 of May, Texas died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his home.

Graveside memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Ricky McKelvain officiating.

Charles Ray Porter was born Septemer 6, 1951 in Jackson, Mississippi the son of the late Melton Alvis and Maezel Hammonds Porter. He was raised in Texas since he was five years old. He attended and graduated from Weatherford High School. Charles married Dorothy Kishbaugh in San Saba at the marriage ceremony oak tree on October 12, 1998, they moved to Lake Brownwood from San Saba a little over a year ago. Porter worked in the oil fields and was a heavy equipment operator. He loved to fish, was a history buff, played chess, went hunting, and wrote poetry and short stories. Brother Tom Henderson baptized Charles in Hillcrest Baptist Church on January 11, 1991 in Temple, Texas. His parents and a brother, Wayne Porter, preceded him in death.

Survivors include: Wife, Dorothy Porter of May, Texas; daughters, Ruby Napier and husband Darrell of Abilene; Charly Shockly and husband Brian of Waco; Jamie Porter of Temple; sons, John Porter and wife Renda of Dallas, Randy Porter of Japan; Ira Porter of Temple; brothers, John and Larry Porter of Killeen; Jack Porter of Whitney, and Kenneth Porter of Hamilton; sisters, Brenda Hawkins of Odessa and Linda Smith of Plano.
