A Very Special Young Woman
Thursday, December 11, 2008 • Posted December 11, 2008

She was not from a wealthy family or the big city. If we would have been around her when she was growing up we would not have paid any extra attention to her. She was not a superstar physically or at the top of her class academically but there was something special about her. She reminds me of some girls that were my classmates in high school and college. They were quiet and did not bring much attention to themselves. It seemed like they always had an arm load of books and were on their way to study. They dressed modestly and were polite. Another thing they were not boy crazy and had chosen to keep themselves pure or remain virgins until their wedding night. Every now and then one of them would invite me to church or to a special youth program. They had one special characteristic that the other girls did not have and that was they loved God very much and wanted to obey him. This does not go unnoticed by God because many years ago He chose one such young woman for a very special mission. It was Mary the one chosen to be the mother of Jesus. She was to bear the Christ Child that would bless the whole world, (Luke 1:26-33, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 1:3). See you in Church next Sunday.
