Jakie Watson

Jakie Watson, 76, of San Saba passed away Thursday December 4, 2008 in San Saba. Jakie was born January 10, 1932 in San Saba, the daughter of Beary Kelly and Nell Haggerton Kelly. On October 16, 1945 Jessie (Jakie) Marie Kelly and Vernon Watson were married in San Saba. Vernon preceded her in death August 28, 1997. She attended the Baptist Church.

Jakie is survived by sons, Welton Watson and his wife Arlene of San Saba; Roy Watson and his wife Liz of Lometa; Eddie Watson and his wife Hermelinda of San Saba; Larry Watson and his wife Jo of Gustine; George Watson and his wife Kim of Clifton, and Lucas Watson of Clifton. Daughters, Brenda Berrio, and her husband Jimmy of Cherokee and Janis Collins, and her husband Bob of San Saba. 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Brothers Charles Kelly of Granbury; Harvey Kelly and his wife Miki of Gatesville and Welton Kelly and his wife Georgia,of Granbury. Sisters, Annie Terrell of Clifton; and Wanda Rogers of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Jakie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Vernon Watson Jr.; one daughter, Ellen Harris; two granddaughters, Marjorie Marie Watson and Lasha Ann Watson; three great- grandsons, Chevy Golden, Sean Van Tress, and Jimmy Mayfield, one great- granddaughter, Rayleigh Mayfield. Three Brothers, John Kelly; Hardy Kelly, and James Kelly. Two sisters, Ella Pierce and Louise James.

Services were held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Rev. Welton Watson officiating and Rev. Alan Berrio assisting. Interment followed at the Wallace Creek Cemetery.

Family received friends, Friday, December 5, 2008, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
