Lou B. Simpson, 76, of Richland Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in Temple, Texas. Lou was born June 1, 1932, in Locker, Texas the daughter of T.M. Sofge and Opal Cochran Sofge. Lou was involved with the Busy Bee Quilter's Club and the San Saba Historical Society; she was also a past vice president of the Texas W.I.F.E., and a past secretary of the Locker Cemetery Association and Locker Baptist Church. She attended the First Baptist Church in Richland Springs.
Lou is survived by sons; Jeffrey Bates and his wife Helen of Richland Springs, and Daniel Bates and his wife Jennifer of Richland Springs. Daughters, Darinda Crosby and her husband Tim of Gatesville; Velita Smith and her husband Kenneth Powell of Richland Springs; Janice Pruett of Early; Nancy Bush and her husband Roger of Richland Springs; and Kitty Cummings and her husband Charlie of Richland Springs. Grandchildren and their families, Audra Bates and Jose Garcia and their son Anthony; Kiya Wood; Remy Wood; Katie Replogle and her husband Asher; Lennon Nayle; Nigel Padon Bates; Paul Crosby; Jason Crosby and his wife Karrie and their children Nathan and Jessica; Julia Earnest and her husband David and their children, Reagan; David; Bailey; Hannah; Avery and James; Jonathon Smith and his wife Sharla and their daughter Kaitlyn; Lloyd Smith and his fiancé Yanira Longoria; Brandon Pruett and his wife Jennifer and children Jaydon and Laurie Nicole; Angela Hodgdon and her husband Dennis and their son Dylan; Melissa Barnes and her husband Aaron and their children Thomas Ray, Hayden and Konnor; Zane Stuard and his children Lilith Beddo and Harley Stuard; Wiley Cummings and his wife Tara and their children Kiley, Karter, Kinley and Kreed; and Monty Cummings. Brothers, Glenn Sofge of Springfield, OR.; Trevel Sofge and his wife Dorothy of Eugene, OR.; and Harry Don Sofge and his wife Rose of Childress, TX., and several nieces and nephews.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene Bates; husband Oscar Simpson; Grandson, Kenneth Eugene Bates; three sisters and one brother.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Fikes officiating. Interment will followed at the Locker Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to the donors favorite charity.
