Again, we have had no rain the past week. We received the .5 last Sunday which was the first measurable rain in 4 weeks and after two days of high wind, the moisture was all gone.
There were 9 members present at the Busy Bee quilting last Tuesday. They were Fay and Gloria Lusty, Marilyn Miller, Carol Orr, Catalina Luna, Grace Hardman, Irene Hammett and Jewel Larimer, and myself. We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Joining the quilters as guests were Les Hammett, Benton Miller. Fay will bring the quilt for the January meeting. We will be having our Christmas party on our meeting day in December and will not quilt.
There were only 7 in attendance at the community meeting Saturday night but we had a good time visiting. The Christmas party and program will be December 20th at 7:00 P.M. The tree will be decorated on Thursday night, the 18th. Anyone is welcome to come and help with the decorations and we sincerely invite all of you to join us for the party. It is a real old fashioned Christmas get together. It will help you get in the Christmas spirit. Gloria Weatherman will be in charge of the Christmas program with assistance from Wilma Lee, in spite of her being a little under the weather. There will be a New Years’ Eve party at 8:00 P.M. on the 31st.
Curtis Lee had his daughter, Ellen Schoenbeck, from New Jersey, accompanying him to the meeting. Ellen is taking her turn here for a few days helping out Dad while Wilma is in the hospital at Brownwood. They say Wilma has a good outlook and is determined to overcome her illness. Lets keep her and her family in our prayers.
The Richland Springs Coyotes had their football season brought to an unexpected end last Friday night with a loss to Strawn by a score of 72-83. The boys fought hard but Strawn was just a fast and tough team. We listened to the 3 hour game on the radio and we were worn out! The Coyotes had a great year and have nothing to feel bad about. The Jr. Varsity and Jr. High both had very good years so we should be in good shape for years to come. Now, we can move on to basketball. I hear the Lady Coyotes are already off to a good start.
