David Powell

David Powell, 65, of Richland Springs, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 in Temple. David was born July 11, 1943, in Sterling City, Texas, the son of William David Powell and Ella Ruth Miller Powell. David joined the Marines and served in the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by sons, David Loran DuBois and his wife Candi; Donnie Lawson Powell and his wife Sandy and Dusty Lee Powell. Daughters are Latricia Ann Powell; Nina Charlotte La France and her husband Steve; Misty Dawn Day, and Amanda Coquese Powell. Grandchildren are Steven Higgins; Rashelle Higgins; Amanda, Cody and Paul DuBois; Tiffany, Michael and Justin LaFrance; Stephen, Jonathan, Billy, Brian and Brice Powell; Kaitlyn Saunders Colton. Great-Grandchildren are Alexis, Baylee, Brianna and Jaidyn. Brothers are Johnny Q. Powell and his wife Kathleen; Billy Glenn Powell and his wife Denise; R.J. Germany; Dale Germany Sr. and Lawson Dale Germany and his wife Shana. Sisters are Edna Irene Williams; Mary Ethor and her husband Tommy Millett; Chris Reeves and her husband Bobby; Sue Gray and her husband Bruce. One aunt, Mary Weakley; one uncle, Luke Powell and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Ruth Miller; father's, William “Beau” Powell and Rodney Germany; and one grandson, Brett Powell.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kent Battenfield officiating. A private family service at a later date will be held at the Cross Plains Cemetery in Cross Plains, Texas.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Elm Grove Rodeo Association.
