Thursday, November 13, 2008 • Posted November 13, 2008

This past Saturday, November 8,2008, the regional cross country meet was ran at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Mae Simmons is a hard, but fast course. The weather was pleasant with very little wind.

San Saba’s representatives did a very good job as Danessa Vasquez came in 14th, four places out of a trip to state. Her time of 13:40.47 went to state last year, but the last qualifier was Jenna Duncan of Comanche, who won our district, ran a time of 12:34.14. Duncan ran a 12:41 last year and missed by one place. Rebecca Parades was also running well before getting bumped off the course, but still came in at a respectable 36th out of 168 running a time of 13:08.60.

Vasquez & Paredes are both sophmores.Alexa Maxcey is coming up. Two more dedicated girls could make San Saba very tough next year.

Spearman won the girls championship followed by Wall & Ballinger who will all go to state as a team. Wall won the boys championship.
