Thursday, November 13, 2008 • Posted November 13, 2008

The San Saba County Pecan Show has been set for December 1st and 2nd by the Pecan Growers Committee. Entries MUST be in the Extension office no later than Wednesday afternoon November 26th. You can bring your entries any time. The earlier the better. Processing will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, December 1st in the Courthouse. Please come join the fun and help crack and shell entries.

Mr. Scott Anderson, Brown County Extension Agent, will be here at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday the 2nd of December to judge our show. Winning entries will compete at the Regional Pecan Show in Stephenville on December 12th .

A sample entry consists of 40 pecans of each variety you wish to enter and should be representative of the entire production. If you do not know the variety, samples will be classed at processing. Should you need assistance please call the Extension office at 372-5416 or contact one of the Committee members.

All entries are encouraged whether you have one tree in the yard or a commercial orchard.

San Saba County is one of the oldest and largest Pecan shows in the State and has far more entries than most counties. You are invited to be a part of another successful event and promote the “nut” that San Saba is famous for! See you there.
