The San Saba 8th grade Dillos lost their first district game at Rogan Field last Thursday night in a 7-6 thriller ball game. Both teams were well matched and played their hearts out.

San Saba kicked to Comanche to open the contest. An Indian pass fell incomplete on coverage by Garrett Hartranft. Sean Argote and Diego Montoya teamed for a tackle. Argote made a sac, Diego Lara had good pass coverage. Comanche was forced to punt. San Saba got the ball near midfield. Argote ran for 2,9,16,1,2,2 and 4 before San Saba gave up the ball on downs. Trevor Tinney, Diego Montoya, Russton Ellis, Nathan Amstead, Aaron Perez, Joe Lindsey, Josh Robinson and Isaac Zepeda provided blocking.

Argote, Dusty Parum, Diego Montoya and Garrett Hartranft played good defense and forced another Indian punt as the quarter ended 0-0. Argote ran for 3, J.T. Mathis 9, Argote added runs of 7 and a 21 yard touchdown. The PAT failed. Good blocking by Corey Snider, Michael McKinnerne, Luis Vega, Juan Ortega, Russell Lowe and Ryan Guidroz helped Argote score.

San Saba kicked to Comanche. Juan Carlos Garcia caused a fumble recovered by Diego Lara. The Dillo offense got the ball back.

Argote ran for 7,8,3,4,2,1,2. The Dillos tried a pass but an interception foiled the drive. Comanche took over. Good pass defense by Diego Lara, J.T. Mathis, Garrett Hartranft and Juan Ortega stopped an Indian threat. Russell Lowe had a good tackle. A pass interception by Diego Lara was rubbed out by a penalty. San Saba stopped the Comanche drive as the half ended. 6-0 Dillos.

Comanche kicked to San Saba to start the 3rd quarter. Argote ran for 7,2,1,3. Lowe added 18, Argote added runs of 9 and 2 yards, Lowe 9 more Argote 2,13, 3 and 12. The Dillos fumbled but recovered. Guidroz added 2 yards, Argote 3 as the 4th quarter started.

Comanche intercepted a Dillo pass on the 4th and 9 and returned it to midfield. The Indians were able to drive and score. The kick for the PAT was good. 7-6 Comanche. Good defense was played by Michael McKinnerney, Sean Argote, Russell Lowe, Juan Garcia, Luis Vega, Juan Ortega, J.T. Mathis, Kolton Haverland, Dusty Parum and Garrett Hartranft.

Comanche kicked to San Saba with 5 minutes remaining. Argote ran for 9,3,3,12,6. Guidroz 5, Argote 5,3,2.

The Dillos came up short on the 4th and 4. Comanche got the ball back. The Dillos forced 3 and out on big plays by Diego Montoya, Dusty Parum, Garrett Hartranft and Luis Vega.

The Dillos got one more chance after the punt but could not score. Good effort by J.T. Mathis, Trevor Tinney, Joe Lindsey, Aaron Perez, Kolton Haverland, Nathan Amstead, Aaron Rixse, Russton Ellis, Issac Zepeda and Michael McKinnerney kept hope alive.The Dillos just fell a little short. The 8th grade Dillos play Coleman in Coleman Thursday night to complete the season. Sean Argote had 39 carries for 223 yards for a 5.7 average. Russell Lowe 2 for 27 for a 12 1/2 yard average. J.T. Mathis 1 for 9. Ryan Guidroz 3 for 8 yards.
