Valerie and Delton McGuire spent several days with their children last week. They went to two of their son Travis’ play performances, went to Six Flags and celebrated their daughter’s birthday with an old fashioned birthday party. Then they spent a few days in east Texas and visited Delton’s mother and dad.

On Saturday, 10/25/08, Valley Spring United Methodist Church had a picnic at the Simpson-Wooten family ranch in Valley Spring. They invited members of the Cherokee UMC and their friends to share in the food and fun. Avery and Maurine Johnson, Clara and Ken Thomson, Sue and Robert Broyles, John and Ann Altizer, and Kay and Bob Savage (plus their granddaughter Maddy) attended from Cherokee.

The site of the picnic was the top of a hill where the Wootens will soon build a home. The scenery was beautiful from the hill, and the weather cooperated nicely. There was a “walk on water” experience that many participated in, as well as excellent conversations and fellowship with old friends and new. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food, including desserts and homemade ice cream. (No one left hungry)

Recently Danny Duggan was given two tickets from his “secret pal” to ride the train from Cedar Park to Burnet. He and Janiece had a wonderful time. Janiece took part in the drama that was put on in Burnet. She was a saloon girl along with several young ladies that had Down Syndrome. They had a great time and are even thinking about volunteering on the train.

Gunner Baugh had a big birthday bash last Saturday. Lots of family and friends helped him celebrate his birthday.

Dusty and MaryDell Rhoades took grandson, Trevor to the San Antonio Zoo last Sunday.

Michelle Mckneely Buffe was honored with a baby shower last Sunday at the Baptist Church.

Ken and Alice VanDyke from Montana visited the Randolphs last week. They enjoyed watching Cherokee play football last Friday night.

Funeral Services were held Thursday at the Church of Christ for Mrs. Wilson (Bernice) Kuykendall. We extend our sympathy to her family.

Brent and Renae Poss and children from Spring Branch spent the weekend with Avery and Maurine Johnson. The children enjoyed the Fall Festival and visiting with cousins, Kendall and Brady Johnson.

Dale and DiAnne Scott along with Mr and Mrs Leonard Oliver Sr.,Leonard Oliver Jr., Mary Ann, Katlyn, Hayden, and Regan Scott, and Anna Oliver, traveled to Bethesta , Md. for the wedding of Leonard Oliver Jr . this past week. While there they visited Washington D.C. and the National and Memorial parks and saw the memorials there. They also went to Arlington National Cemetery, and The Iwa Gima memorial in Virginia.
