Waiting on a New Heart
Thursday, November 6, 2008 • Posted November 6, 2008

Our church is praying for a young man who needs a heart transplant. His heart is diseased and unless he gets a new heart he will die. His problem reminds me of a problem that we all face in life and it is a problem with our spiritual heart. There are many passages in the Bible that talks about this heart and the different problems it can have. First it says the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things, (Jeremiah 17:9). It can also be foolish, lead us astray, err, have evil thoughts and be trained for wickedness (Psalm 95:10, Matthew 15:19, Romans 1:21, 2 Peter 2:14). A big problem is that it can become stubborn, hardened and resistant to God, (Romans 2:5). If we continue this way our heart can become so hard we can not hear or respond to God, (Mark 8:17&18, Acts 7:51). A heart hardened toward God is open to Satanic and Demonic control, (Luke 8:12, Acts 5:3). God knows and sees our spiritual heart and a hardened heart displeases Him very much, (Luke 9:47, Acts 8:21). There is hope, we can call upon God, ask for help, repent of our sins and put our faith in Christ Jesus, (Romans 10:12&13) and the result can be a new heart and spirit, (Acts 8:22). We can not do it ourselves as it has to be a work of God, (Deuteronomy 30:6, Ezekiel 36:26, Psalm 51:10). See you in Church next Sunday.
