Maxine Davis

Maxine Davis, 89, of San Saba, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in San Saba. She was born February 24, 1919 in San Saba County, the daughter of E.C. (Buddy) Smith and Flora Jerkins Smith. On April 23, 1938, Maxine Smith and Joe Davis were married in San Saba, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1992. Maxine was a housewife, attended the Full Gospel Church and served as Secretary/Treasure for the China Creek Cemetery for many years.

She is survived by two daughters: Gwendolyn Jo Plumley and her husband Sammy of Junction, TX.; and Wanda Faye Gibson and her husband Douglas of Richland Springs, TX. Grandchildren: Cody Plumley and his wife Misty of Junction, TX. ; Carter Plumley and his wife Melody of Uvalde, TX.; Joseph Gibson and his wife Melanie of Florence, TX.; Paul Gibson and his wife Jessica of San Saba and Julie Gossage and her husband Tony of Keller, TX. Great-Grandchildren: Asa Parker Plumley; Ian Plumley; Baylee Plumley; Dawson Gibson; Savannah Gibson, and Shelby Gossage. One sister: Walter Bob Casbeer and husband Jackie, of San Saba, and one sister-in-law, Ruth Smith of San Angelo and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Sorrell Smith.

Graveside services were held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the China Creek Cemetery, with Rev Stephen Baker officiating.

Family received friends Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 6:00 – 8:30 P.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home in San Saba.

Family requests that memorials be made to The San Saba County Volunteer EMS or to the China Creek Cemetery.

Funeral Services were under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
