Thursday, October 30, 2008 • Posted October 30, 2008

Three Seniors will be back for their final season together when the Lady Dillos hit the hardwood on November 3rd in a scrimmage at Burnet. But before the season even gets started, Shelby Hardy, Katy Davis and Calea Turner were honored last week in the annual publication of Texas Basketball Magazine, which is “dedicated to the best in Texas High School basketball.

Hardy was selected for the magazine’s All-STATE Third Team, while Davis and Turner were ALL-STATE Honorable Mentions. The All State teams are a compilation of players from all classifications, 1A through 5A. The magazine also honors Hardy and Turner for their 3 point shooting, as well as their assists, steals, and point averages.

Shelby, Calea, and Katy have been playing together for a long time; since Little Dribblers in the third grade to Select Team tournament play in the fourth through eighth grades to Jr. High and High School ball, and hope to end their school careers together with a BIG BANG.

The Lady Dillos will have seven returning lettermen including four starters back, “ready to get the Dillos into the post-season” according to Texas Basketball Magazine. Joining “the three headed monster” (as the seniors have been nicknamed) will be (Junior) Nicole Sears (back from injury), (Sophomores) Haylee Oliver (last year’s newcomer of the year), Tarah Crosby, Jaena Edwards, Denessa Vasquez, and Bianca Zapeda, who will all be looking to contribute valuable depth and experience. The regular season begins November 11th when the Lady Dillos will host Marble Falls Faith Academy at Armadillo Arena, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss the tip-off to what should be a very exciting season! Fill the stands and yell loud! Go Dillos Go!
