Coyote Pride

A good crowd cheered the varsity Coyotes to a 62-0 victory over the Rochelle Hornets in the third game of district play. The Varsity Coyotes are now 8-0 on the year and 3-0 in district! The Varsity Coyotes play Santa Anna at Santa Anna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31st. The Jr. High Coyotes won against Rochelle last Thursday by a score of 39-6. The Junior High Coyotes are now 5-1 on the year! The Junior High plays Santa Anna at 6:00 p.m. this Thursday at Coyote field. The Junior Varsity was idle last week. The Junior Varsity is undefeated for the season! The Junior Varsity will play Sterling City at Paint Rock this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The Mighty Coyote Band under the direction of Dwayne Bishop is sounding better each week. The band is practicing for Homecoming. Homecoming is scheduled for November 7th for our last home game against Veribest. Come out and support the band, cheerleaders, and the student athletes at the games, you won’t be disappointed!

Representing the Junior class is Miss Kelsey Huddleston. Representing the Sophomore class is Miss Emily Smith. Representing the Freshmen class is Miss Kensie Green. Students wanting to order mums need to contact any senior or senior sponsor Brenda Roberds.

Girl’s varsity basketball after-school practice began last week. Coach Dodson reports 7 girls will suit up this year. All girls should see a lot of playing time.

The 5th grade attended the Farm Safety Day in San Saba last week. Thanks to all who are associated with this event.

Missy King, prevention specialist, with the Cental Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse helped RSISD celebrate Red Ribbon week. Students in grades K-12 signed pledges to refrain from using tobacco products. Students signing pledges received pencil grips engraved Tobacco Free 24.7.365.

If you’ve visited campus after dark, you’ve noticed the new and improved campus lighting. The extra lighting should be completed this week and will make our campus brighter and safer after dark.

In honor of the 4-H’s 101st anniversary, the Richland Springs’ 4-H will be collecting 101 cans of food to the San Saba County Food Pantry. All food items can be brought to the library.

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success. Thanks for all you do!
