Fall weather is wonderful, cool nights and the daytime temp is just about right. We could still use some more moisture. The last rain really made the oats and wheat jump up and the deer are out and about so watch carefully when you are out on the road.

Bobby Clark underwent surgery on his knee last week in Round Rock and is recuperating at home. Jane reported that he is suffering lots of pain, but that should be better before too long. Even with the pain he is already wanting to get back on the job.

Fannie Crawford had knee surgery in Fredericksburg and is recuperating in the Eventide nursing home. Hopefully she will be home before too long.

Sylvia Stinnett and Lola Morris were in Cherokee Saturday shopping at the arts and craft booths. It was reported that many different kinds of craft booths were set up to catch your eye.

Patsy Henniger just returned from a trip to New Orleans where she spent a week. She returned in time to enjoy the fish fry Saturday with R. J. and her sister Pennye Pierce.

The fish fry, cake and a silent auction was attended by people from all over. There were people there from San Saba, Cherokee, Lometa, Lampasas, Pasadena and Austin. Needless to say it was a success.

After going to the community center to eat fish Saturday, relatives gathered at the home of Jerome and Shirley Meischen to watch the football game between UT and University of Missouri. It was a high scoring game with UT coming out on top. It was reported in last weeks news that they attended the UT and Oklahoma game which was not correct. They stayed home and cheered them on watching on TV.

Jane Clark took her sister LaNell Daniels to Temple Monday morning where LaNell will undergo tests and will remain overnight before returning home. One of the tests that will be run on LaNell required that she spend the night. Hopefully after all the tests they will find a solution for some of the problems LaNell has.

Happy birthday wishes go out to John Thomas Burk who will celebrate a birthday October 27.

Congratulations go out to Dave and Jamie Garrett who will be celebrating their first anniversary October 27.
