The San Saba Ladies Golf Association was well represented this past week at the semi annual Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Association tournament in Huntsville, Texas. We had two big winners!

Sandee Hartley won second low net in the Sixth Flight! This was the first win for Sandee and we were proud of her. She also won the longest drive in her flight.

Jo Anne Hardy had an amazing victory by capturing First Low Gross and First Low Net in the Eighty Flight! Due to a scorecard play off she was awarded the First Low Net prize. Great rounds for Jo Anne and we were thrilled to have two winners!

Priscilla Muse won a fabulous door prize so it was a good tournament for the San Saba Ladies!

Anita Miles, a board member at large, attended the board meeting and represented the San Saba Ladies. Hattie Rogers and Jo Ann Snow also attended the event and everyone had a great time renewing old friendships and lots of golf.

There was an exciting story that one of the ladies got choked on a piece of candy and her teammate performed the heimlich maneuver and literally saved her life.

Besides playing golf at the beautiful Raven Nest Golf Club, the ladies were treated to an awards banquet and a luncheon. This is a semi annual tournament and is played on courses all over Texas. A person has to be 55 years old to be eligible for play. It is impressive to see many ladies eighty plus years old playing good golf!

The next tournament will be in October in Temple, Texas and this calls for more practice and more “swinging!”
